Prof. Nkiru Theresa MELUDU

Prof. Nkiru Theresa MELUDU is the current Dean Faculty of Agriculture after serving for four years as Head of the Department of Agricultural Economics and Extension, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka.

Her areas of specialization include Agricultural Extension/Advisory Services/Community Development, Food and Nutrition Security, Home Economics, Hospitality and Tourism, Gender, Ecological Organic Agriculture, Climate Change. She became a Professor in 2010 at the University of Ibadan before transferring her service to Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka. She is a member of both national and international associations, to mention but a few: AESON (Treasurer, now Vice President) RUSAN (Financial Secretary), NOAN (Editor), IFOAM, ISOFAR, IFHE, HECN, HERAN, SHEN, RUSAN,
NIFAAS, AFRAAS, GIFRAAS, Apiculture Society of Nigeria, Association of Deans of Agriculture in Nigeria (Treasurer) etc. She is the BoT Chair for NOARA, BoT Member Civil Alliance for Climate Action (CACA), BoT member Unizik Farmers Association, BoT member Farming Food for Africa. She undertook a post-doctoral fellowship in Japan 1998 to 2000 at the National Institute of Agricultural Research, Tsukuba, sponsored by Japanese International Science and Technology Exchange Centre. She had scholarship to participate in certificate courses on Food and Nutrition Security/HIVAIDs in Wageningen University Netherlands (Netherland Fellowship Program- NFP) in 2013; Orange Knowledge Fellowship (OKF), March 2019 on Governance and Food Safety in International Food Chains in Wageningen University Netherlands. She won the University of Ibadan Senate Research Grant for individual 2005 and inter-faculty researches for two consecutive times on sweet potato value addition 2005, 2006, Co-investigator tetfund grant 2015, Investigator on HIV/AIDs sponsored by ARPANWinrock
International USA 2004, also received Idachaba Foundation for Research and Scholarship grant 2006. She is the Project Coordinator for Healthy Foods for Consumers Initiative that consulted on International Research on Ecological Organic Agriculture for Africa (2012, 2014 -2018) Swedish Society for Nature Conservation (SSNC) and SIDA. She facilitated the establishment of Summer School for Youths in Organic Agriculture, 2014), “Farmers and Consumers Forum” a Radio programme for the Department of Agricultural Economics and Extension which is currently running in Unizik FM 94.1 since 2016 to date. A consultant /facilitator for IFAD Value Chain Development Programm (VCDP) Nutrition Intervention (Nutrition Sensitive Agriculture) sensitization of Extension Agents, VCDP Staff and Farmers in Anambra State August 2018, 2019, 2020 and November 2021. Also a consultant to Knowledge Centre for Organic Agriculture (KCOA) in Africa since 2021. Nnamdi Azikiwe University contact person for Regional University Forum (RUFORUM) since 2019 and also, consultant to NUON, NUC, Tetfund and several universities. She has attended conferences and scientific meetings in USA, Germany, Switzerland, Korea, South Africa, Tanzania, Kenya, Mali, Ghana, Côte d’Ivoire, Australia, and Turkey just to mention a few. She has supervised over 32 Masters, seven PhDs and has over 83 peer reviewed articles, a book and 9 chapters in books to her credit. She is a recipient of the LKSP, STA, NFP, OKP and married to Prof (Sir) S.C. Meludu and blessed with lovely children.

it is a non-stock, non-profit organization with Deans of different Universities as members, As an association, it envisioned itself as innovative, competent and empowered in leading institutions achieve excellence in agriculture education for national and global development.

The Association is made up of those Universities in Nigeria that offer a degree course in agriculture or related agricultural areas. In Nigeria there are currently thirteen such Universities, spread across every State and located in both metropolitan and rural locations.
