Dr. Bamikole

Dr. Bamikole is a Professor of Herbivorous Animal Nutrition in the Department of Animal Science, University of Benin, Benin City, Nigeria.

He is a product of University of Ibadan, Ibadan, Nigeria, where he obtained his B.Sc in Animal Science, M.Sc. in Agricultural Biochemistry and Nutrition and Ph.D in Ruminant Nutrition in 1992, 1994 and 1999 respectively. He was promoted to Full Professor in 2010. He has done extensive research on feed and forage resources evaluation in ruminants and rabbits as well as in vitro assessment of Nigerian medicinal plants and their bioactive components in ruminant methanogenesis abatement. He has over seventy-five publications in reputable local and international journals some of which are published by Elsevier, Kluwer, Emerald, CSIRO, Springer and Blackwell. He served for ten years in the Editorial Board of the prestigious Animal Feed Science and Technology Journal, Published by Elsevier with impact factor (IF) of 2.590 (2019 IF). He is also an ad hoc reviewer to some highly rated international journals such as Livestock Science, Small
Ruminant Research, Animal, Australian Journal of Experimental Agriculture and Tropical Animal Health and Production. He has been and invited speaker at many local and international workshops and conferences. He was a visiting scientist at Kuju Agricultural Research Centre, Kuju, Japan as well as Kyushu University, Fukuoka Japan. He was also a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Institute of Subtropical Agriculture, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Changsha, China and a Senior Fulbright Research Scholar at the Department of Animal Sciences, University of Florida, Gainesville, Florida, USA. Prof. Bamikole was a two-term Dean of Faculty of Agriculture, University of Benin and served as the President of Association of Deans of Agriculture in Nigeria Universities (ADAN). He is a member of Governing Council of the Nigerian Institute of Animal Science (NIAS), member of the Governing Board of Agricultural Research Council of Nigeria (ARCN) and also a member of the Advisory Committee of USAID Global Food security Strategy (GFSS) for Nigeria. He is currently the Director of Research and Development, University of Benin, Benin City, Nigeria.

it is a non-stock, non-profit organization with Deans of different Universities as members, As an association, it envisioned itself as innovative, competent and empowered in leading institutions achieve excellence in agriculture education for national and global development.

The Association is made up of those Universities in Nigeria that offer a degree course in agriculture or related agricultural areas. In Nigeria there are currently thirteen such Universities, spread across every State and located in both metropolitan and rural locations.
