PROFESSOR JAYEOBA, OLUMUYIWA JAMES

Professor Olumuyiwa James JAYEOBA is a Professor of Agronomy (Soil Science) with over twenty- six years’ experience in Crops & Soil Research, Agro-Meteorology, soil and water conservation, climate
change research, Geo-Informatics, Digital soil Information, Geo-statistics, Remote sensing and Mapping.

He holds bachelors in Agriculture from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, Masters in Agrometeorology and Simulation Modelling from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria and doctorate in Environmental Resource Management from Nasarawa State University Keffi. He started his carrier at
International Crops Research Institute for Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT) as a Research Assistant in Agronomy Division. He benefited from ICRISAT and APSRU (Agricultural Production Systems
Research Unit, Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization; Australia) Fellowships for his MSc studies in Data simulation modelling. During the past years, he had participated and served as a National consultant/Facilitator in several National and Internationally funded projects (Fadama I, II, III, IIIAF, NPFS, UNDP - Millennium Village Project, UNDP/GEF Project, IITA, ARCN, FARA etc), particularly he assisted FAO, Nigeria (National Program on food Security) in developing over Fifteen National soil fertility maps and many other crops and soil national extension materials. Recently he represented Nigeria at GSP - African Soil Partnership Training Workshop on Digital Soil Mapping of Soil Organic Carbon and Salt affected soils in Nigeria and consequently contributed (Nigeria grid) to the development of Global soil organic carbon and Salinity Maps by FAO. He is currently the Nigerian Country Supervisor for Soils4Africa Project and also the National Supervising Consultant for National
soil survey Project. He has experience in collation, analysis and interpretation of long term weather data. His reliability, communication skills, responsibility and friendly nature are assets that enabled him to work in a multi-cultural team and adapt to new cultures. He has specific experience in research data collection and analysis using statistical packages such as Arch GIS, QGIS, R-Studio, GENSTAT, SPSS, SAS, STAT etc. He also has strong skills in deployment and Management of Information and Communication technologies (ICT) Infrastructures. He has exceptional ability to initiate, manage and
provide research leadership and direction to projects across national and international borders. He has published peer reviewed articles in reputable journals both home and abroad, and contributed papers to national and international conferences. He is the Editor–in–Chief of Production Agriculture and Technology (PAT) Journal; and a reviewer of manuscripts for many reputable local and International journals. He is currently the President of ADAN (Association of Deans of Agriculture in Nigerian Universities) and also Dean, Faculty of Agriculture, Nasarawa State University, Keffi, Lafia Campus and fellows of Soil Science Society of Nigeria (SSSN) and Horticultural Society of Nigeria (HORTSON)

it is a non-stock, non-profit organization with Deans of different Universities as members, As an association, it envisioned itself as innovative, competent and empowered in leading institutions achieve excellence in agriculture education for national and global development.

The Association is made up of those Universities in Nigeria that offer a degree course in agriculture or related agricultural areas. In Nigeria there are currently thirteen such Universities, spread across every State and located in both metropolitan and rural locations.
